If you are in Florida, and looking for something out of the ordinary to do, perhaps you might enjoy a stop at Wild Florida!
We live on the west coast of Florida so our destination for today will take us just over 2 hours. But, if you are already in Orlando, it’s a mere 40 minutes south (from Universal Orlando)!
Wild Florida, Gator & Wildlife Park has airboat rides, ranch buggy rides (quite an experience!), and the Gator & Wildlife Park. Oh, and let’s not forget the purpose of our road trip today, the animal encounters. They have Sloth, Porcupine and Lemur Encounters!
Check for special offers. We were able to take advantage of “Florida Residents” discount! It’s always a good idea to check for deals/packages before you go to any attraction!
A good plan can help you to avoid frustration. Check routes, avoiding busy highways, excessive traffic and tolls. Your reward will be a more pleasant and scenic route. Going during the week can have its benefits. However, don’t forget that just because you are not working that does not mean that the rest of the world is not! Plan your travel times around local rush hours.
I like an app called “Waze” it’s free, accurate, offers alternative routes and tells you about distractions like; stopped vehicles on the side, accidents, road kill, objects on or in the road and even police activities (speed traps can be a bummer!). Waze is interactive and lets you approve, deny or add objects to the route. It’s available for iOS or android.
Don’t forget to leave a little extra time, just in case you see something along the way that peeks your interest. Small “finds” along the way make the trip less stressful and more memorable.
Let me share with you the most important thing I have discovered, where ever you go, whatever you see, share it with others! Don’t be afraid to stop and smell the roses, to share a smile with a stranger, a meal with friends and build memories together that will last a lifetime!
