Horses Lay Down
“While visiting The Ringling you are welcome to explore the Bayfront Gardens at your leisure. As awe-inspiring as any work of art, The Ringling Bayfront Gardens are a living treasure. Courting couples statuary watch over Mable’s Rose Garden. The shade the majestic Banyan trees provide. The delight inspired by the whimsy of the Dwarf Garden. The echoes from the past where the Circus King finally rests in the Secret Garden.”
The circus was self-sustaining. There was no outsourcing in those days. If they needed something, they didn’t buy it, they made it! If there was an obstacle, they would overcome it. Life in the circus was hard, but you never saw it from the outside, you only saw the smiles of the clowns and felt the magic in the air. (I would suppose that if you close your eyes, you can almost hear the circus music and feel the excitement of the circus you experienced as a child, even today.)
Should you find yourself in Sarasota, with a little time on your hands, might I suggest a visit to The Ringling | Circus Museum?
We found ourselves in this predicament, however, I must confess, a visit to the Circus Museum was the purpose of our visit to Sarasota. That and a trip to Yoder’s Amish Resturant! (But, Yoders’s is a blog topic that demands its own post and so, I leave it for another day!)
I mostly live vicariously through the photographs that I have taken in the past. I probably have had more road trips and vacations in the last 8 years than I have in my entire life. I owe that to Denise, she has brought out and enabled me to become, the Wanderer that I am. We love to travel together when we can and do so as often as possible.
Half Moon Cay is Carnival’s, private 2,400-acre island, that serves as a private retreat for passengers on the line’s Caribbean and Panama Canal sailings.
Oh, the other day, I might have left out an important tip. Get your lounge chair early and remember, if you move your feet you can lose your seat!
Deck chairs, on beautiful days like these, come at a premium. I will tell you that Carnival (and I am sure the other cruise lines) have an adult only deck section, where the weary traveler can relax in the sun, away from the hustle and bustle of the pool deck. Small may it be, but still a nice ref
Let me share with you the most important thing I have discovered. Where ever you go, whatever you see, share it with others! Don’t be afraid to stop and smell the roses, to share a smile with a stranger, a meal with friends and build memories together that will last a lifetime!
Pack the essentials in your carry on. Your luggage may not be delivered to your room for a while. A swimsuit, sunscreen, and a change of clothes are good examples, not to mention any medications you may need. Denise has a travel checklist that comes in handy. You don’t want to be buying items on board that you could have brought from home!
If you have ever been to sea on a cruise then I believe you might have encountered these peaceful creatures. They seemly appear out of nowhere. I mean, you leave your cabin to set out on whatever adventures await you and when you return, you find them “lurking” about in your cabin.
Cozumel is the only city in the world where the first thing I did when exiting the cab was to kiss the ground and thank the good Lord for a safe arrival, despite the best intention of the cab driver! To be “fare” though, pun intended, they get paid by how many trips they make from the port to Puerta Maya. Which translates, to passing on the left, passing on the right, running red lights, and almost running over the poor tourist who thought it wise to walk!
So what do you do to cool off on a hot Florida day? Some stay home in the AC, others go to the beach, but we go to the river and get our Kayak on! Our destination, Nobleton Outpost, on the Withlacoochee River.
