Gringos Cafe, in Port Richey, Florida

Okay, you have to eat right?

and, you don’t always feel like cooking.  So you decide you want to go out to eat.  So, where do you go? What are hungry for? I know, decisions, decisions, decision!  Well, let me help you out and tell you about one of our favorites. Gringos Cafe in Port Richey, Florida is the place to go if you want good, authentic Mexican food! Oh, and plenty of it!

Tired of the same ole, same ole?

Denise and I love to switch it up when we get a chance to go out.  We are always saying “we haven’t been there” as we drive around. We even make lists, just to make sure we remember where we have been and the spots we would still like to go!  (You mean you don’t? LOL) But, Gringos has a special place in our repertoire (yes, that is a big word, but I looked it up!) It is one of only a few restaurants that we frequent. We used to stop here before our once a month clown meeting. Yes, we are bonafide clowns! (I’ll share a few pics and stories, another time!)

I always say…

“I’m going to try something different this time”, but I don’t!  I order the beef burritos supremo!  I think that’s Spanish for huge! The jalapeno doesn’t come standard on the burritos, but they are generous if you ask for a side of them!  Oh, and if you ask for a side of sour cream, you are not going to get a little souffle cup, oh no, you are going to get a “monkey dish” full!  (“monkey dish” is kitchen speak for the little bowls you see the jalapeno and salsa in on the table.) oh, did I mention that you get fresh tortilla chips and homemade salsa included with every meal?

I have ordered other things like the Chile Rellenos at Gringos Cafe

Those stuffed chiles are awesome! for those of you not familiar with them, it is a roasted fresh poblano pepper stuffed with queso Oaxaca and deep-fried and served with a rich tomato sauce topped with more cheese!  I love hot, spicy food, even though it doesn’t like me so much anymore!  LOL  Denise prefers the mild, but she never has a problem finding something on this menu to enjoy!  The other night she wasn’t all that hungry and decided to try a grilled mango and chicken taco!  She said it was delish!

We love the decor and atmosphere

Gringos is a quaint little Mexican Cafe with authentic Mexican cuisine.  The café is tastefully decorated and the music plays softly in the background, so as not to disturb your dinner conversations.

This was not a paid advertisement…

just my endorsement of a great little hometown spot to get good food, huge portions, and great atmosphere, at an affordable price! As a disclaimer of sorts… The opinions in this post are my own. Of course, not everyone will have the same experience as we do. But, how will you know, if you don’t go?  LOL

Handicap Access…

Gringos is handicap accessible.  It is in an older building, so the bathrooms are a bit small, but they are navigable for the mobility challenged.

Be prepared and… “Know before you go!”

Be sure to check out their web page for hours of operation, phone number!

Let me share with you the most important thing I have discovered.  Where ever you go, whatever you see, share it with others!  Don’t be afraid to stop and smell the roses, to share a smile with a stranger, a meal with friends and build memories together that will last a lifetime!
